The problem
“We keep selling things we don’t have.”
Every sale in the shop had to be entered again online, and the spreadsheet was updated at the end of the day, when someone remembered.
Customers ordered items online that had already sold in the shop.
The thinking
The tools themselves were fine. The problem was the gaps between them, and the spreadsheet that was trying to fill those gaps.
- We consideredReplacing both systems with one new platformWe choseConnecting the two existing systemsWhyBoth worked well on their own. Replacing them would have cost more and retrained everyone.
- We consideredKeeping the spreadsheet as a backupWe choseRetiring the spreadsheetWhyA third copy of the truth was part of the problem.
The build
An integration that keeps stock in sync both ways, plus a daily low-stock summary so reordering stops being guesswork.
- Connect the toolsThe online store and the shop till share one stock record.
- Sync automaticallyEvery sale updates stock everywhere within moments.
- Low-stock alertsA short daily message lists what needs reordering.
The result
Placeholder: the real outcome will be written with the client, using measured numbers only.
- Orders cancelled because of stock errors
- Time spent re-entering sales
